Five Simple Tips for Radiant Skin

For over 3000 years, the ancient science of Ayurveda has been a way of life. It is a holistic approach which emphasizes on the prevention of diseases rather than its cure. Ayurveda helps create an environment to eliminate all toxic imbalances from the body and attain good health.

An Ayurvedic skin care regime has no harmful side effects unlike the various cosmetic facials available in the market today. Listed below are five simple tips to achieve a more radiant skin.

#1. Drink lot of fluids: Drinking a lot of pure clean water is the secret to achieving not only younger skin but also shinier hair and healthier body. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of clean water every day. Consuming adequate amount of water is important to keep your skin hydrated and fresh.
Tip: Spicy herbal tea (with fresh ginger and lemon) helps keep your digestion healthy which is important for glowing skin.
#2. Eat Fresh: In general Ayurveda recommends healthy and whole food for all types of constitution. Eat fresh and unprocessed food to keep your body and skin functioning at optimum level. Eat a lot of fruits and green vegetables. While eating at home avoid spicy and oily food which is responsible for skin breakouts and eruptions especially in the monsoon season. It is advisable to eat light and easily digestible food.
Tip: Vegetables with high water content such as lettuce, carrot, cucumber fennel, daikon radish, tender asparagus tips are easier to digest. Combine at least three with some olive oil and lemon juice dressing for a delectable salad.    
#3. Exercise: Regular exercise keeps you fit, your muscles and joints healthy and toned. It also increases blood circulation and calms the mind. Sweating it out helps release harmful toxins. Experts suggest a minimum exercise regime of at least five times a week till sweat begins to form along the spin and on the arms.
Tip: Choose an exercise that you enjoy and can have fun with. It could be walking, jogging, boxing, dancing, yoga etc.
#4. Get regular sleep: The advantages of getting a good night’s rest ranges from better concentration to longevity. Regular sleeping habits also make you look healthier and more attractive. Sleeping well allows more production of collagen and elastin to keep your skin taunt. Experts suggest at least seven hours of good sleep for a health glowing skin.
Tip: Stick to a regular sleep schedule, which includes going to bed and waking up at the same time everyday.
#5.  Facial Care: The eternal principal of cleanse, nourish and moisturize apply to all facial care.
            Step 1. Clean your face with warm water. It makes the dead skin cells easier to remove.
            Step 2. Make an ubtan (1 tsp gram flour+1 tsp rice flour+1 tsp turmeric+ ½ tsp lemon juice) and apply.
            Step 3. Remove with plain water or rose water.
            Step 4. Moisturize with VICCO turmeric cream.
