I take my smartphones very seriously. And why not? It has replaced my watch, my camera, my music player, my calculator, my phone book, my diary, my calendar - well, I could go on and on but I am sure you already know what I mean.
Every couple of years or so, I upgrade my smartphone - an arduous undertaking in which I probably put more effort than I put in my dissertation. It requires hours of online research, reading reviews, discussions in tech forums, writing up pro-con lists at the very least. Replacing my constant companion from the past years is by no means a small feat. So of course, I am choosing a successor which is better, faster, may be bigger and definitely more innovative.
This year though choosing a smartphone was remarkably easy... The LG NEXUS 5X with its impressive features and distinguished specs is leading the pack by a mile.
Here are my top 3 reasons for choosing the LG NEXUS 5X experience.
#1. A powerful camera that catches more light.
So, I am off backpacking through Europe next month. If I have an LG Nexus 5X, which comes with 12.3 MP2; 1.55 μm; f/2.0 camera, I can do away with the hassles of having to carry an additional camera without having to compromise on picture quality. Not to mention the phone's ability to capture sharp details even in dimmest conditions will come in very handy when I want to take a picture with a handsome stranger at a sparsely lit underground club in Amsterdam!!
#2. Simplified Security: Nexus Imprint
Last year, my colleagues hacked into my phone and changed my status to 'Engaged' on Facebook. It was funny and slightly annoying having to explain the joke to every well wisher. But jokes apart my phone holds my digital wallet and is a gateway to my social media life, so of course a smartphone with a fingerprint sensor is a deal closing feature for me.
#3. The new standard: USB Type-CTM
Did I hear you say color choices?
Don't worry you can order this beauty in Carbon, Ice Blue or Quartz!

"The best all-around camera we've ever put into a Nexus shines in low-light conditions. Its larger 1.55μm pixels capture more light even in the dimmest conditions to produce stunning details and sharp images. With a faster Google Camera app, you'll never miss a moment, and with the smart Google Photos app, your memories are easy to relive and always at your fingertips."

"Your Nexus is quicker and more secure with a fingerprint sensor. Placed on the back of your device to complement the way you naturally hold it, Nexus Imprint will turn on your screen with one touch, unlock your apps quickly and easily, and let you breeze through checkout lines. And, by incorporating measurements each time you use it, Nexus Imprint gets smarter with every touch."

"The USB Type-C charger is reversible, which means no more guessing which way is up. And it's fast — get almost four hours of use after only ten minutes of charging."

You know those nights when you stumble home too drunk tired from work when all you want to do in go straight to bed. If you are like me, even in that state you will reach for your bed side mobile charger and plug in your smartphone before blacking out. Imagine how exasperating it is to wake up the next day and reach out for your phone only to find that there is no charge because you had apparently plugged it in the wrong way!
Not only the new standard USB Type-CTM does away with the annoyance of guessing which way is up it also charges the device much faster. Ten minutes of charging is all it takes for the phone to keep running for four hours, don't tell me you aren't impressed too.
This is but the tip of an iceberg that is the LG NEXUS 5X. This smartphone comes with 5.2 inch display and runs on a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor with 2 GB RAM. It has the freshest, fastest version of Android — Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Not only does it have super cool features like the Doze Mode, On Tap feature, it also comes with everything we love about Google apps baked right in!
What more could you possibly want from your smartphone?
